The ASM Heat Treating Society is the world’s premier membership society dedicated to the advancement of heat treating as a theoretical and applied discipline. ASM HTS is the largest membership organization of its kind, with a heritage dating back to 1913. It is our mission to create an organization where members work together to drive the heat-treating industry forward through collaboration and communication. Together, through the intellectual visions that exist among our constituents in industry, government, and academia, we can inspire the global heat-treating community and do amazing things.
The Failure Analysis Society is the newest affiliate society from ASM International. Founded in 2016, this society is dedicated to advancing the important role failure analysis plays in the materials science industry. We aim to promote more safe, reliable products by study of the many ways in which failures occur and to educate the larger engineering, manufacturing, and user communities regarding our findings.
The new affiliate society emerged from an existing ASM committee that has long offered failure analysis programming and content. FAS will continue to provide collaboration, networking, and educational opportunities for materials science professionals. It will also continue to have its own technical programming at the annual IMAT conference & expo.
